We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. I've found with enough concentration, I can....Block it out.
I've walked around with a sprained ankle, have been cut numerous times with knives (I handle knives and every now and then you'll get cut) and have been kicked in the groin before.
It's extremely helpful to learn how to do this.
What I think helped me: I think having an abusive father helped in this regard. I first learned to tolerate it, over years of hell (After he left, but hell caused by extremely cruel school kids) I've learned to block it out.
