Okay, so, The Adventures of Tintin opens in the USA on December 21st.
AND I CAN'T WAIT.
A couple of weeks ago, I had an idea of a fun way to pass the month of December while I wait on tenterhooks for the movie to come out. Since I grew up reading 21 albums of Tintin (therefore excluding Soviets, Congo and Alph-Art, which are not even LISTED on the backs of my albums), I will feature each of the books for every day of the month, counting down to the release date. ...Which means I'll be posting the day I see the movie. Oh. lol. ...And since it's ALMOST like counting down to Christmas (just a few days off), I decided to call it an Advent Calendar. Similar. Nooot the same. But similar. Ish.
Basically, what I've got planned is to re-read each book either the day before/the day of, draw one of my favourite scenes/panels (in Hergé's style, as best as I can manage, and NO tracing!), and write a little blurb regarding my own experiences reading it, both growing up and grown-up.
OMG I've seen it already, it was released in Holland around the same time it was released in Belgium. And it was freaking AMAZING! Seriously, I had expected A LOT of this movie and it has exceeded my expectations . The story, the perfect animation and 3D, and the characters personalities stayed so close to the comic. FFFFFF- best animated movie of the year, maybe even the very best movie of the year :T
I created an account just so I could make comments on the drawings in the calendar. The movie is spectacular. It manages to not only be faithful to Herge's vision, but also introduces enough new elements to make it a completely new and unprecedented experience. Yes, I did see it twice, and I still will need to see it many more times to catch every thing that's going on. There's just so much rich detail. I think even people who have never heard of the series may still love it.
On a side note, I don't know if someone has already sent this to you:

It's the BBC Christmas 'promo' and there's some Doctor Who in it. A hint for the 2011 Christmas Special maybe?
