Did...did I actually not announce this on deviantART? I mean, I know I've been away for a while, tending to my tumblr and all, but...erm, well yes. I got a new job and moved to Las Vegas (well, Henderson) back in April. :O_o: It's pretty cool. Not what I expected, but cool. (I'm out of Ohio, at least.)

But to reiterate what is probably quite clear by now, I'm not doing much on DA anymore. I even went back and deleted/stored a number of old deviations. I'll sneak back from time to time, but doodles/comics/rambles/photos/etc. can ALL be found on my tumblr nowadays. (and even THERE I'm not great about consistent updates) Very rarely will I cross-post, but if I do it may just be part of a sketchdump.

So, a quick summary of projects:

UNWANTED is in pretty good shape right now, but still quite unfinished. I visited the Hopi reservation and got some fantastic inspiration and loads of recommendations for reference materials, which I'm still utilizing to fine-tune certain plot elements. I've been writing it as a straight-up novel for a couple of years, but now and again I second-guess that decision and ponder what would happen if I were to make it a comic, instead. I'm in that limbo right now.

Stick-Gods has been a little spotty ever since moving to Vegas, but honestly, ALL of my personal projects have suffered from the move (it apparently takes a while to adjust to transplanting a couple thousand miles x_x). I still have no plans to stop producing SG comics and posting them on tumblr, and am still considering giving it its own dedicated tumblr blog. (Pesedjet, meanwhile, is not being actively developed at this time)

C'est la Mort is officially on HIATUS, and is NOT cancelled. Yes, I've focused on other projects at the cost of letting it fall by the wayside, but is still simmering on that back burner. That said, I have absolutely no idea when I will return to it.

Insaneography is on an on-again off-again schedule that relies on all four of its creators being on the same page at the same time, which is tricky due to time zones and big life happenings. It has not been abandoned! It's just too damn epic for us to handle. ;P

Homebrew Pathfinder Campaign—WHOOPS I'M RUNNING ONE. I've got a new group over here and I'm trying my hand at DMing for the first time ever. I did some worldbuilding and resurrected old characters to chuck at my players and see what happens. This is something that will surely inspire art/rambles! (ps Sagan is back)

• There are two other MASSIVE writing projects I'm collaborating on right now, as well—with two different friends who have been my friends for a VERY long time, and one of those projects has been around in some form for an EQUALLY very long time. As these projects progress, I may have updates...but they have been and will likely remain shrouded in closely-guarded mystery until they are finished and (fingers firmly crossed) published.

Think that's about it?? Other than much gratitude for the birthday wishes! :thanks:

But yep; see y'all around~

It's been a LONG time since I've written a journal entry here on DA...I seem to remember writing one about a year ago and having it vanish into the aether, so I was sore about that for a while. A year, it seems. >_>

But I'm just writing this to say THANKS FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES ERRBODY! :glomp:

...And that, if you haven't noticed, I've migrated to tumblr for just about everything. When I return to C'est la Mort (IT WILL HAPPEN), it'll still be here on DA. But other stuff? Usually it's going to show up on my tumblr first and/or only over there.

It's up!! :la: (click the banner or here)

Here's my original message concerning what on Earth this is all about. But tl;dr (though I think you should read it :P): whatever profit I make from this I'll be contributing to conservation efforts to protect these critically endangered species. You're pretty much donating right to the cause in exchange for something awfully cute! :meow: The whole purpose of this little project is to spread awareness and, of course, raise funds to give to multiple conservation programs. The more people who know about this, the better. Spread the word! :dummy:

(Say no to [unsustainable] palm oil!)

If this does well, I will consider expanding this project to include more species/regions/etc. It all depends on you guys! Also, if there are other products that you would like made available for the current featured animals, let me know! I can add more merchandise options~ :aww:)

...also, I seem to have deleted my old skin and can't figure out how to bring it back. And it won't let me save a new one using the old information. OOPS. What. o_O

A bee in my bonnet...

Tue Jun 18, 2013, 3:22 PM
I've been reflecting on wildlife conservation a lot lately. I like to think of myself as environmentally conscious, but I'm woefully negligent when it comes to actually DOING something any of it. I talk the talk, y'know? But that's pretty useless in the long run. I want to be more mindful. I'd like to make a difference.

In particular, I've been stressing over the ubiquity of unsustainable palm oil and the deforestation that is decimating the rainforests in Southeast Asia (great source of information here). I'm going to be paying a hell of a lot more attention to whether I'm buying a product —be it food or cosmetic— with palm oil in it, and whether it is from a sustainable source or not, but that's really just on a personal scale. The next step up is donating more liberally to conservation efforts (I've done so a tiny bit in the past, but my income then wasn't quite what it is now!).

And THEN I had a nifty thought!: I'm thinking of opening a new Zazzle store dedicated to cute merchandise featuring endangered animals that make the Sumatran forests their home— namely, the tiger, elephant and orangutan (based off this art...derp, had to re-post). That's not to say that there aren't other regions heavily affected by the palm oil industry, but A. the Sumatran subspecies of each of these animals are critically endangered, and B. Sustainable Sumatra is an admittedly catchy slogan that I'm considering using. 9_9
ALL of the proceeds that I make I will donate to multiple conservation programs (such as the Sumatran Orangutan Society and the Sumatran Tiger Trust).  Earnings are so-so on Zazzle, but I absolutely do not currently have the time to produce my own merchandise and ship it out to people. :/ For now, this is the best I can manage.
SO, you can ALSO help contribute...and get something cute in return! :meow:

What do you think? .-.

Europe Trip!

Tue Mar 19, 2013, 3:57 PM
Um, SO! I've been deplorably absent from deviantART for the past *checks* er, couple of months. Sorry about that. It's been a combination of things, mostly work-related, partly I've-been-busy-editing-a-book-with-my-co-author-related, but the plan is to be more active in the near future.

But not TOO near, because I'm going on vacation! :dummy:

Folks may remember that I visited my brother when he was living in Berlin a couple of Christmases ago; he has since then moved to Stuttgart, and that's where I'm headed this Saturday! Not only am I returning to Germany, but he and I are gonna take a small vacation-within-a-vacation over to Paris for a few days and I AM SO PSYCHED YOU HAVE NO IDEA. :la: (at least my French is better than my German, heh)

Er. SO RIGHT!! I will be very much absent between March 23 and April 1st, but I expect to come back with loads of photos! :meow: (and then get back to making art, herp derp) Not sure if I'll be able to resolve the CLM cliffhanger this week (well, I'd be creating yet another cliffhanger, lol), but we'll see how much time I have between packing and running a million last-minute errands.

In any case, happy spring, happy Easter, see you around!

New York Toy Fair!

Thu Feb 7, 2013, 6:16 AM
So, I'm going on what I suppose one could call a business trip! It IS for work, after all. It's just that with it being a TOY FAIR, it doesn't really feel like, well, a business trip. Or work.

Right, and it's in New York City.

... :la:

www2.toyassociation.org/AM/Tem… <--NY Toy Fair
I basically get to stand around all day in our company's booth and demo our products to sales reps n' buyers n' folks. Lots of smiling, lots of talking, hopefully lots of water.

ONLY THING IS, with this apparently ENORMOUS WINTER STORM blowing in on the Northeast coast this weekend, I'm actually flying in an unexpected day early. :dead: Therefore, I'm gonna be gone from the 8th-13th...no drawing, not much time for internet shenanigans, etc. Sigh.

but I will have at least a couple of free evenings and I do plan to go to my first Metropolitan Opera House opera on Saturday night my brother may have gotten me free tickets aaaaahhhhh it's Carmen I love Carmen

But, yes! NYC. Toys. A crapload of snow. It's on. 8I

See y'all next week~

Insaneography Ask Blog

Mon Jan 28, 2013, 4:28 AM
:star: insaneography.tumblr.com :star:

YOU HEARD ME. :la:

Ever been curious about this Insaneography project that's popped up once in a while over the past several years? Wondered what the heck myself, Ryuichifoxe, Karuleonnese and Nevesmose have been talking about? Wanted to find out more about Knospe the dragon, Daniel the huli jing, and the rest of this dysfunctional and mythical cast of characters?

While the story is still in the works, we want to give all you faithful fans a chance to interact with the cast and learn more about the story in the process. At the Insaneography ask blog, you can read about the characters (Meet the Characters) and the organizations they're a part of (FAQ) and ask questions of whomever you please. The four of us authors will respond as any one of the twenty-four characters you may address (but don't forgot to specify the character you want your question to go toward, or it'll be considered a general question, which we'll respond to at random).

So? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR. GO ASK QUESTIONS. Knospe, Grant, Reza, Narime, Solan, Dom, Jack, Cherie, Zinaide, Mercer, Fran, Gabe, RB, Hanne, Leigh, Vlad, Daniel, Maybel, Amias, Uriel, Deirdre, Chrissy, Fragile, & Quentin are WAITING FOR YOU. :evillaugh:

You can always ask Anonymously if you don't have a tumblr, DA folks. :3

Ohayocon

Tue Jan 8, 2013, 5:01 PM
I will be there. :salute:

Saturday for sure, Sunday a possibility as well.

My new roommate will also be there (incidentally, the Crowley to my Aziraphale from Dragon*Con; however, we will not be reprising those roles at Ohayocon). She'll be decked out in her Lin Beifong cosplay.

Me? No anime (or anything even remotely similar) for me. I'm going as Enjolras, as he appears in the movie.

Because FUCK. YES. LES MISERABLES.
(I've been waiting for this film for like 15 years. ;w; For the record, loved everyone/thing except Russell Crowe.)

...and my awesome roommate is like a costume/cosplay guru so I'll have an accurate, tailored coat, whee! 8D

Plus, I don't need a wig for it. :I

People are going to think I'm from Hetalia if I carry the big red flag around though fml

AH WELL. If you're going, perhaps I'll see you there! I can't imagine there will be a great number of Enjolrases parading around (and if so, few as short as I am! 9_9)— odds are I'll be fairly easily found. x'D

Happy Holidays!

Mon Dec 24, 2012, 6:24 AM
Hope everyone is having a grand time! Me, I'm with my various family members for Christmas (including my brother, who's visiting from the states!; I see him today, yay! and hopefully we'll go see Les Miserables tomorrow, woo!).

I apologize again for my inability to regularly produce a C'est la Mort page for the past few months, but I've had good reasons. ^^; Currently (besides being busy for the holidays), the reason is that in a sort of last minute decision, I'm moving into a bigger apartment with my new roommate. It's fortunately just a move down the hall for me, but I have a LOT of crap to go through and I've been taking my time (I have until the new year to vacate the old place); meanwhile, my roommate moves in on Friday, so unless by some miracle I've finished a CLM strip by Thursday we're looking at another delay. :surrender: There's also the internet situation, since I have yet to take care of getting that switched over. Meep.

On a happier note, I did get something drawn for the holidays! :innocent: I'll post that in a moment.

Cheers, everyone~

Still Alive

Sat Dec 1, 2012, 12:43 PM
Hi guys. I'm here. ^^;
Man, the past two months have been ROUGH when it comes to creativity and art and such. First I injured my hand (falling down a hill playing Humans vs Zombies, so yeah, there are less badass ways I could have hurt myself :P) and could barely draw for several weeks, and then BAM, NaNoWriMo rears its head and like EVERY SINGLE YEAR the sheer amount of writing meant I had virtually no time for recreational drawing. :dead:
(also, my roommate and co-worker moved out, so this means A. Things got a lot more busy at work for me, and B. Another friend of mine is actually going to be replacing her in both roommate and co-worker capacity starting after New Years :omfg: but more on that another time)

Fortunately, my hand has healed (eh, to the extent that it doesn't hurt about 95% of the time, but the occasional odd movement or placement will twinge a bit) and I beat NaNoWriMo, and now it's DECEMBER! Odds are I'm gonna go NUTS and start drawing constantly to make up for lost time, but at the same time I need to remind myself how that's done. That drawing thing. Yanno.

So yeah, I'm actually going to stream tonight and FORCE myself to draw. I may or may not tackle the next CLM strip. There will probably be much swearing and apologizing on my end and many bizarre and hilarious and facepalm-worthy requests on your end. (in addition to all of this, a 50% chance of booze)

The streaming party takes place at 8:00 PM EST and will go down here.

C'mon. It's not like you have anything else to be doing on a Saturday night. :|

App from work launches on Friday!!!

Wed Sep 26, 2012, 4:03 PM
:la: OMG YAY

So the Ohio Art Company (where I work as a toy designer) has been working on an app for the past, like, YEAR, and this Friday it's finally gonna launch!!

It's called Appets, and it's basically a super-cute game with these super-cute talking animals. You can customize your avatar, meet/make friends, go on little quests, shop at the stores, plant stuff in your garden, decorate your house, etc.! And best part? It's FREE! :omfg: (down the line you would pay for important updates if you want 'em...and trust me, you'll be wanting 'em ;P)

Okay, well, let's be honest here: the best part is how our production team is composed of like five people (only a slight exaggeration). :o Virtually ALL of the art/assets/animation was created by both my roommate Jessi and our friend Geneva. I actually had little to do with the stuff you'll SEE in the app, but on the other hand, pretty much everything you HEAR was my contribution— music, sound effects and even voices. (I'm both excited and supremely nervous about it, but oh well )

Anyway! Right! It'll be available for download (iPad and/or iPhone) in the App Store this FRIDAY! :eager: In the meantime, you can like it on Facebook and follow it on Twitter! Check it out for, again, SUPER-CUTENESS, tons of fun, and *cringe* if you want to hear my derpy-cutesy music and voice acting. :dummy:

agh this is exciting I can't even

...In other news I still haven't decided if I'm going to get a tumblr, lol. I'm leaning towards yes, but haven't gotten around to actually acting on it. Too busy! @_@

The tumblr?

Mon Sep 10, 2012, 11:04 AM
Enough people have been poking/prodding/bugging me about this particular item of interest over the past, eh, year-ish, so I thought I'd run it past those few of you who read my journal entries:

Should I finally tumblr?
I'm not head-over-heels for the system over there, but I can see at least a couple of benefits. (and by no means am I planning on ditching DA completely in favour of something ostensibly shiny and new)

I did create an RP account a couple of months ago, but that didn't last very long. I'm still quite a novice when it comes to "the tumblr". :P

Dragon*Con seems to be happening~

Tue Aug 7, 2012, 7:04 PM
Considering I just bought my ticket and booked my flight, I HOPE it's happening. OuO;; Otherwise that's a lot of wasted money. :P

SO YUP. I'M GOING. *panicked flailing in a circle* I hope I have enough suitcase space for my cosplay stuff! So far it looks like I might be wearing a fedora and a camel hair coat on the plane. (...if they let me on looking like that) :|

I'll update as it gets closer, but as of right now, yeah, I'll be there on all four days, dressed as Aziraphale (fav.me/d4txwwm for certain; I'll have a different Crowley, though, if all goes well!), a L4D Hunter (fav.me/d2wh2ke ALMOST for certain), and possibly as my Steam Powered Giraffe inspired "Crocwork Clockodile" (inonibird.deviantart.com/art/C… ...still haven't bought proper make-up or contacts, though)...or something else that requires less work, lol. We'll see. ^^; It looks like I'm moving forward instead with my Space Core cosplay (inonibird.deviantart.com/art/S…)!
Maybe I should think of an outfit that doesn't involve, y'know...winter accoutrements. >_> Atlanta in early-September...this might get ugly.

Anyway!! If you're going to be there, DON'T BE SHY, I'd love to meet up! Says the gal who is most assuredly shy. Derp. But naw, I can manage to be somewhat sociable at conventions~ xD ...Just don't glomp me. ono

Uhh.

I think that's it for now. :dummy: Back to huddling over this excellent illustrated Lewis & Clark book. *hungrily stares at historical clothing*

O hai vacation

Wed Jul 18, 2012, 6:00 AM
Unexpected, sudden vacation! :omfg:

Okay, not entirely unexpected. Months ago I was thinking about doing this, though it had been intended for earlier in the month. But this works out better~

Next week I'm going down to Virginia! :dummy: My mum does this music festival in the Blue Ridge Mtns every summer, and my brother's actually back in the States and performing at said festival, and so I figured, HEY, why don't I take advantage of being able to see TWO family members at the same time?! So yeah, taking a week to hang out in the mountains with 'em. :3 Shall most likely hike and do rafting stuff. We'll see if I get to travel to some of the more historic areas in the state; that'd be awesome! (I visited the Blue Ridge area once before, but it was completely blanketed in fog during my stay; I saw almost nothing, save for a quick trip to Monticello.) I'll take lots of pictures either way~ :meow:

At any rate, I DON'T plan on packing up my Cintiq to go with me, so I'll be artless from the 21st through the 29th. :dead: The price I pay for a legit vacation, I suppose. I WILL be posting a CLM strip this week, and probably as soon as tonight. It'd be awesome if I could get another in on Friday, but don't hold your breath. >_>;;

Soooo...yep. Another few days, and the I vanish for a bit. No art, but I'll have internet, apparently, so I'll be able to update y'all in case I accidentally bump into a bear or trip over a copperhead. 8T

Later!

I do believe I'll celebrate with a stream, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'll draw Portal stuff. It's been a while, so we'll see if I still remember how. :B Also, maybe I'll play a little of the game, because damnit, I miss it~

Summer Stuff

Sun Jun 24, 2012, 1:13 PM
Some random updates:

:bulletblack: I'm turning 25 (BLAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHH) on July 5th, and this might be a pretty tame year in terms of celebration, considering it falls relatively in the middle of the week (hate that the 4th is on a Wednesday, getting mid-week holidays SUCKS). Maybe I'll draw something cool, but I really have just about nothing planned for that day (beyond flailing around in a circle because I'll be a quarter of a century old and getting to a point where I can say "Yeah, I DO remember that thing that happened 20 years ago") :nirvana:

:bulletyellow: Projects-wise, we're all still slowly prepping Insaneography for its debut, but it's quite a lot of refurbishing that's going into it, which is time-consuming; HOPEFULLY you'll start seeing the story itself this summer!!

:bulletorange: Dragon*Con. I think I'm going to go. It's expensive, but without much in the way of vacations happening during the summer, I'll surely be looking forward to a break by Labor Day weekend. Plus, I've heard so much about it that it's a real temptation to attend. I haven't bought a pass or a plane ticket yet, but I have a friend that I'll probably be able to stay with, so it's not looking too bad in terms of getting there (just, again, expensive). As for costumes, I've got a couple of old ones and a new one that won't require much money to pull together, and which I'll probably hate myself for wearing down in the late summer heat of Georgia. (Aziraphale, L4D Hunter and my Crocwork Clockodile SPG concept) We shall see. I'm PRETTY sure I'll end up going, but it isn't completely set in stone just yet~

So I have some news!

Thu May 24, 2012, 8:43 PM
It's good news.

First of all, let me state how this news shall affect my recent plans for C'est la Mort-- the plans that had me saying that, with my new Cintiq, I would strive to produce more than one page per week. Well, the way I see things, that is not nearly as likely. ^^; :surrender: I HAVE gotten used to my Cintiq, though, and it does make things tremendously easier in terms of "getting shit done", but with the NEWS in mind, it means that I'll just be resuming my normal CLM schedule of weekly Friday (and occasionally Saturday, knowing me) updates. It's a bit of a shame, but I need to be able to spread my focus, and this is the only way I can trust myself to keep up with everything.

After all, three co-creators will be relying on my focus. >3>

Insaneography.

It's a term, an idea that's been bandied about for a while on this site. Four artist/authors messing around at first, and then realizing that there was potential for a much more involved, multi-arc story (and spin-off stories, but that's...well, another story...several, even :P). Some of you may be familiar with a few of the characters involved-- Knospe, Daniel, Quentin, RB, etc. Or, perhaps not exactly familiar, but you've seen images, and wondered where the story was.

Well, FINALLY, after five years of waxing and waning focus, RyuichiFoxe, KaruLeonnese, Nevesmose and myself are going to bring you the Insaneography story.

...As soon as we can. 8'D

No, but seriously, we are now actively working on formatting it and preparing it for your reading and viewing pleasure. It's pretty exciting, now that we know what the plot is (xD!). Characters need mending, plot holes need filling, and writing needs re-ing, but we are toiling away and getting stuff pulled together. The plan is to create a deviantART group (to replace the old account) and a tumblr page (apparently mostly for the art aspects), to consolidate our respective contributions as much as possible.

I don't think I can give you a set date to expect to start seeing the story itself, but most assuredly you'll begin seeing things from all of us (Ryu and Karu, more likely on their tumblrs) as we fine-tune designs and details and such (and promote).

But yes. Insaneography. At its core, it's a thousand-year-or-so epic that follows two men and their Muse of Insanity, whose lives are shaped by the devastating events they spark and the relationships they forge along the way. This story ranges from lighthearted shenanigans to emotionally-dense tragedy, so bring popcorn and tissues.

It's epic. It's insane. And it's coming.

Let's try this Cintiq thing again...

Mon May 7, 2012, 11:34 AM
SO I HAVE ALL THE EVERYTHING I NEED AND IT'S HOOKED UP, NOW. :faint:

The biggest problem I think I'll have is getting used to a nib that isn't all worn down like the one at work. :P But I'll do my best.

Anyway, STREAMING, take two! That is, assuming I can figure out how to record a second display. 9_9;; Here's hoping~

Cintiq Stream-- YEAH NEVERMIND

Wed May 2, 2012, 2:09 PM
F*cking balls, yeah, so, I don't have the right adapter for hooking the Cintiq up to my Macbook Pro, which is bullshit, but oh well. I may not get to use this thing anytime soon, even, because...y'know. Living in the middle of no where. Adapter probably not easy to come by. V___________V

So, sorry, but no streaming tonight after all. #criesincorner

edit: Ordered the thing, but probably won't get it until next week. Boo, hiss.

...Yeah, I need to figure out how to set this thing up, first. And eat. And buy a new mouse. But I should have that taken care of in a couple of hours. So, 8:00. Streaming with my new Cintiq. Shit's getting real. B|
